Prosthetic bridges can only be established if the patient is surrounded by a tooth gap. (they are to act as pillars). If the teeth in the upper jaw or mandible end in e.g. four, and the patient would like to rebuild the five, six and seven, the prosthetic bridges cannot be placed. One tooth is missing as a bridge support. In this situation, removable dentures can be used. The bridge construction requires the grinding of healthy abutment teeth. For this reason, prosthetic bridges are usually made when interdental deficiencies are significant. With slight deficiencies, the use of implants is preferred.
